There seemed to be a fair amount of interest in this issue the last time it was presented, so let’s roll with that.
The Kansas City Honeywell Plant produces 85% of all non-radioactive nuclear bomb components. Good to know, huh? They’re opening up a new facility, too. They also aren’t planning on cleaning up the old site until 2015. (If at all) Peaceworks KC is holding a public hearing to allow comments to be expressed regarding this plant. Since this is a non-nuclear facility housing only small amounts of radioactive materials an in-depth environmental assessment is not necessary for the permitting process. Please note that this plant expansion is necessary because we are currently producing nuclear weapons at Cold War levels.
