Currently reading: “The Illustrated World's Religions: A Guide to Our Wisdom Traditions” by Huston Smith

“I've just barely begun the book. I started it intending to attend a book club at the Unitarian Universalism Church in town but have missed the first two nights already. I'm determined to read it anyway. It's a discussion of the major and some primal world religions, and obviously full of illustrations to complete the information.”

Book everyone should read: “Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference” by Malcolm Gladwell

“Gladwell completely full of himself and some parts of it I honestly had to skim, but once you're past that its fascinating. He outlines what causes something to be a fad, discussing historical fad items and breaks the process down into specific key players and events he calls 'agents of change.' He has a very strict outline for what causes something to go from known by just a few to known by everyone. It's a deep sociological book that made me stop and think about so many things in society. I happened to be reading it during Obama's campaign and found it amazingly interesting to compare what was actually happening. I was also able to compare his outline and analysis to what is currently happening within social media. To counteract suggesting an 'intellectual' book, I'm also going to suggest that everyone read 'A Wrinkle in Time.' It's a 'young adult' book which makes it a read below must adults, but it's a timeless classic that I go back to over and over. Madeleine L'Engle is an amazing author and I've held a deep love for her books all my life. And then, once you're hooked, read through the whole series because each one will capture you.”
