Description
Hayes comes via a down-home diner that's branching out after 50 years in North Kansas City. Since 1955 Hayes has served the usual diner food, including breakfast, mini-burgers, shakes, chili - 65 menu items in all. One might be tempted to call Hayes a greasy spoon - but the service is friendly, it's impeccably clean, the vibe is nostalgic and wholesome.
Originally opened as a 24-hour restaurant, Hayes is now open for breakfast and lunch, with 24-hour ops on Fridays and Saturdays only.
Under new ownership (Ken Pingleton of the beloved Lawrence band, <a href="http://www.lawrence.com/bands/arthur_dodge_and_the_horsefeathers/">Arthur Dodge and the Horsefeathers</a>) of as of late 2007.
