10 things to do this weekend

With Stop Day on Friday, Cinco de Mayo on Saturday and Art in the Park on Sunday, it's a eventful weekend. With a lot going on, here's 10 arts and culture events we think are worth checking out.

Thursday Friday music: Drakkar Sauna, Bloodbirds and Thrift Store 45s at Replay

This early show kicks off a weekend of good local rock. It starts at 6 p.m. and is $3 cover.

Thursday music: Quiet Corral at the Granada

Thursday festivities at the Granada, 1020 Mass., feature local doing-very-well-for-themselves indie-rock group Quiet Corral. The Delta Saints and She's A Keeper are also playing. Doors are at 9 p.m. and tickets are $7.

Thursday music: Man Woman Boogie at the Jackpot

KJHK's spring Jackpot, 943 Mass., event is a Stop-Day-Eve party sponsored by Boulvard Brewery with several DJs, KC act the Good Foot and hip-hop artist Attilla. Entry is $7 for 18 to 20 and $5 for 21+.

Friday singer-songwriter: Antje Duvekot at Unity Church

Boston artist Antje Duvekot will perform at 7:30 p.m. at the church, 900 Madeline Lane. Tickets are $20 and available here.

Friday music: Rooftop Vigilantes, Mouthbreathers and Dry Bonnet at the Taproom

Rooftop Vigilantes is marking somewhat of a return to the scene with fellow punk acts Mouthbreathers and Dry Bonnet.

Saturday art: Spring arts and culture fest at Spencer

The museum's Student Advisory Board will have its annual event on Kansas University's campus from 1 to 4 p.m. Local and student artists will have display booths and activities.

Saturday community: Poehler open house

The East Lawrence Neighborhood Association is having a Cinco de Mayo open house party for the Poehler building lofts and Dog Walk venue across the street. Music begins, at 800 Penn., at 2 p.m. and includes shows by Prairie Fire, Truckstop Honeymoon and Drakkar Sauna. Guided tours of the Poehler and its lofts run at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. According to the event's Facebook page, there will even be tacos from La Parilla and beers from Free State Brewery.

Saturday party: Cinco de Mayo at the Jazzhaus

Local funk/Afro-beat group SUNU is playing, starting at 10 p.m., at the Jazzhaus, 926 Mass. It's 21-and-over and cover is $5.

Saturday country: Chuck Mead at 940 Live

The Lawrence Arts Center, 940 N.H. is hosting Lawrence native Chuck Mead with His Grassy Knoll Boys, starting at 7 p.m. The event begins with a documentary about Mead and the band's experience recording at legendary studio Quonset Hut and followed by a performance. Tickets are $20.

Sunday art: 51st Annual Art in the Park

The Lawrence Art Guild's annual juried show takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in South Park. It's a big event, with lots of art and music to take in, and not to be missed.

Don't forget The Dead Girls, They Stay Dead (from OKC) and The Sluts at Jackpot on Cinco de Mayo night!!

Thanks, hellohawk! I think that's definitely worth checking out, too. I checked with the Jackpot and it's $7 for 18 to 21 and $5 for 21+.
